A Message from the Director

Kern Regional Center is an organization that works hard and innovates to provide quality services to over 6,000 people with developmental disability and their families in Kern, Inyo, and Mono counties. You are invited to browse through our Website to learn more about who we are and what we do.

Kern Regional Center takes pride in its work to develop and maintain quality services and support for people with developmental disabilities within our area. We partner and joint venture with a number of community providers, vendors, and agencies to achieve positive outcomes in the lives of those we serve. We are collectively able to offer our clientele a wide variety of choices and options to implement fully their person-centered plans. We also monitor their progress and work to assure well-being and quality.

Our innovative efforts have allowed us to move ahead in areas such as self-advocacy, self-determination, the use of telemedicine/telepsychiatry, bringing foster grandparents into the community, expanding supported living options and adult family home agencies, and even in the use of new performance indicators to monitor our own performance. In all of our work, we do our best to maintain our focus on supporting equality, independence, and opportunity in the lives of people with developmental disabilities.
